LON DAVIS
Walkin' & Rollin' Costumes

Tuesday, April 17 - 5:30 pm; Nonprofit Village - 31 W. 31st St., KCMO

After building a costume around a wheelchair of his 3-year-old son, Lon Davis saw the powerful impact it had. The costume changed his son's outlook - raising his self-esteem and his peers began to see him as just another kid with an incredible Halloween costume. Lon wanted to share that experience with other families. In 2015, Walkin’ & Rollin’ Costumes was formed as a non-profit designed to build Halloween costumes for kids in walkers and wheelchairs, free of charge. It continues to grow and expand its reach, adding mini-franchises to scale the number of children and families it can impact.

Hear Lon's story and how he's working to provide unique, custom costumes for children with special needs equipment.

DELIECE HOFEN
Braden's Hope for Childhood Cancer

Tuesday, December 12

Deliece Hofen was fighting stage 2 breast cancer at the same time her 3-year-old son Braden was undergoing treatment in his own battle with cancer. In this process, she saw the drastic discrepancy in funding for childhood cancer treatment research. So she founded Braden’s Hope for Childhood Cancer, a non-profit with the goal of increasing funding and awareness for childhood cancers so no child or family will ever have to hear the words “no known cure” again.

Hear Deliece’s story and learn how her organization is giving every child battling cancer a chance.
